Yippee 100!!

OK, so this is actually my 101th post, but:

1. I just couldn't pass up Wordless Wednesday... because:
2. it took me a while to be able to get some good pics of that sumac! :)
3. I don't think I can think of 100 things about me! ;) (I'm just wasting some numbers here)
4. I don't think I even know 100 things about me.
5. OK, I'm way too obsessed with this blogging thing
6. And don't even get me started on the tweeting thing
7. Really, I have way too many blogs
8. And sadly, most of them are horribly neglected ;)
9. Really, 3 of them I manage to post about once a month to
10. I just did a monthly posting about my disappointment in "America's Got Talent" on one of them
11. I started a blog with my two sisters, who apparently actually have lives ;) as I'm the only one who's posted to it (very infrequently)
12. The other blog I have associated with this email I had just started and posted once before:
13. getting a part time teaching job at a local community college.
14. I started it because I absolutely adore memoir and totally aspire to write one someday :)
15. Someday will probably take a long time to get here ;)
    
16. And I'm lucky to post once a week/2 weeks on my family/friends update blog. (which I won't give you the url to in case you're a horrible stalker) ;)
17. I also love to crochet, when I'm not obsessively reading other blogs or posting or tweeting.

41. Oops, I just said crap, so I will probably get a PG-13 rating on my blog
42. Seriously, I've never used a swear word here (that I can recall) but the word "poop" makes me rated PG instead of G.
43. When I'm not blogging, I'm swearing all the time just to make up for all the swear words I don't use here.
44. I was hoping to get this post done before nap time was over.

46. I'll be lucky to make it to #50 before all hell breaks loose.
47. We live in the vacation/fishing/hunting capital of Wisconsin
48. I saw three bear cubs running across the street within spitting distance of our house the other day!
49. I'm addicted to Hazelnut coffee.

51. But there are no coffee places around here
52. We live in a town with a population under 100!
53. The closest grocery store is 25 miles away.
54. The closest Wal-Mart is 35 miles away.
55. If I want to do any *real* shopping I would have to drive at least 1 1/2 hours, if not 2.
56. I have to order ink cartridges online
57. We had to drive an hour to get a toddler swing last summer
58. We drove an hour last weekend so I could get some fancy schmancy yarn :)
59. I spent too much on fancy yarn
60. I feel a little remorse
61. But then I've never actually bought any fancy yarn before
62. It wasn't really that expensive
63. Nor was it all that fancy
64. But it was wool and alpaca blends, which I've heard are really nice to work with
65. I bought them to start making x-mas gifts
66. Can't decide what I'm going to make this year
67. Last year I made all the nieces and nephews hats
68. And coffee cozy/coaster sets for the adults
69. I might just make hats again, but different ones
70. hats are easy and fun and quick
71. And did I mention that we have tons of nieces and nephews?
72. We had a new addition this week! One of our nieces had a baby girl on Monday!
73. I crocheted her baby booties, hat, pants and a nursing reminder
74. I keep meaning to crochet up a bunch of nursing reminders and sell them on Etsy

76. I also meant to get her the baby gifts before she had the baby

Thursday Two-fer! :) An award and a meme!

OK, so I've been a bad blogger/blog buddy as of late. I've been consumed with getting things organized and prepared for teaching a class this semester. I know, I know, I'm supposed to be a stay at home mommy... but in reality, I still am mostly a stay at home mommy. I was supposed to be teaching 2 classes, but as I blogged/bragged about it ;) one of the classes got canceled... not quite enough students enrolled. So now I'm only teaching one class. So I'm only away from home two nights a week for maybe two hours.

Have you ever noticed that if something really exciting happens or is about to happen or is going on and you blog about it - it falls apart or stops happening? It seems to happen to me quite often... I blogged about my son sleeping all night in his big boy bed. And that was the last night it happened... there have been many other such happenings, but I won't bore you with all the details... but I will not blog about D peeing in the potty twice!! Instead I will complain about him just wanting to sit and play on it for hours on end with no results... he will tell me he has to pee and poop, but usually won't do a thing but sit there. At least he is comfortable sitting there.

Anyway, on to what I really started this post for! :) I'm totally one for beating around the bush and never quite getting to the point ;)

Needless to say I was completely thrilled! Who doesn't love to get an award?? Unfortunately I didn't have the time to think about who to pass it on to! :) this one is a little different, you are supposed to pass it on to 4 people who have been following you for a long time and then a new follower from another country. Sadly, I don't think I have any followers from another country, so I will just have to pass it on to a new follower...

My 6 unspectacular quirks? I have too many quirks... but aren't they all pretty spectacular? ;)

1. I hate, hate, hate touching raw meat. And despite that complete and utter hatred I actually, for the first time in my life, cut up a chicken and put it in the crock pot! Man was that gruesome!! And very difficult. I guess I need some real kitchen knives or swords or whatever it is that best cuts up a chicken!

2. I have to chew food equally on both sides of my mouth... which leads to #3

3. I have to get an even number of food items, so that I can properly chew evenly ;) (ie.. 4 oreos, not 3 or 5, it must be either 2 or 4).

4. If I don't have to go anywhere, I won't.

5. If I don't have to go anywhere, I will stay in my pjs all day.

6. I absolutely hate making phone calls. Which is probably why I do not retain friends ;) I will never call them.

So there are my 6 unspectacular quirks in all their glory...

My first blog award :)

I was so happy to see that one of my favorite bloggers, Suzie from Up the Hill Backwards gave me a blog award!! My first ever :) And I'm so glad it came from someone like Suzie. Ever since I found her blog (after she commented on mine), it's one of the few that I make a point of reading.

There are so many good ones out there it's hard to keep up with all that reading. Of course some days I spend all my free time catching up on those many many blogs instead of posting here! :)

But Suzie is really an inspiration! :) We have a bit in common, which is why she has been on my must read list since I discovered her :) In her blog entry, which includes my blog award [smug], she talks about why she started her blog - it's a great post and I really identified with her and think a lot of us mommybloggers out there could. Its strange how alone you can feel even when you have kids ;) (or even moreso when you have wee ones)... And it is so wonderful to find a community here online of mothers who have similar issues, or mothers who just have great thing to say or hilarious stories to share... I also feel less alone out in the blogosphere.

I finally added a blogroll for all the feeds I read! :) phew, that was time consuming... I probably spend just as much time reading blogs as I do writing them. I am completely obsessed with the blogosphere as of late. Which is seriously interfering with my packing ;) But there are sooo many good blogs out there! If you don't want to get addicted, please don't check any of them out ;)

The cool thing I've noticed lately is all the giveaways! What a great way to get traffic to your blog and who doesn't love giveaways? What a wonderful way to promote a product or business. I will totally do this once I set up my Etsy shop! I started it almost a year ago with every intention of listing lots of cute crocheted items for baby... but then got sidetracked *with* babies ;) But I plan to give it a real go here once we get settled after the big move. I'll be in a much better position to do it then.
