My toot this week goes out to my baby sister :) She just had her (2nd) beautiful baby girl yesterday afternoon! And she is absolutely gorgeous! She looks a lot like her big sister did :) Her big sis is about 2 1/2 and still absolutely gorgeous! :) I can't wait to go for a visit! New babies are always so exciting!!

At least he's eating...or the fun things that come from socializing with dogs
The other day my husband and I were discussing the benefits of having dogs for the children. We'd had this talk many times before. There are many benefits. The best one for me came when D started feeding himself. Several times a day I thank God we have dogs. Otherwise I would be sweeping and mopping at least 3 times a day... The dogs are always right there beneath the high chair waiting to be the clean-up crew. They will even lick his face and fingers... or the seat of his pants - wherever the food has landed when he's done. And wonderfully, our little wiener dog has a taste for spit up. Gross I know, but very handy. (OK, I do try to wipe it up before she can get to it).
Over the weekend my husband said that it was good we had dogs because of the social aspect. D may be well socialized because of the dogs. We spent most of his life living in the Northwoods of Wisconsin - a very remote and isolated area - so he got very little social interaction. And amazingly he is well socialized - the times he's played with other children his age he's done very well. So I absolutely agree with my husband on that point - the dogs have helped him in that area.
But the hazards of having dogs to socialize with?? ;) The very day after we had that discussion we were at a family cook out and D started crawling around like a dog underneath the tables... And the past week or so he has been sharing food with the dogs. He will throw down chips or whatever and then get on his hands and knees and eat them off the floor along with the dogs!
Then Sunday morning we decided to see how he would do eating at the table with the rest of us instead of in his high chair... and this is how he ate:
At least he was eating!! It's so rare that he actually eats anything. So if he must eat this way I'm all for it.
Now you must go read this hilarious post about dogs and kids at Mom-101

K's Miscellany
It's been a crazy week. Some highlights??I see you trying to pretend I'm still sleeping in here! I guess the days of naps in the bassinet are over.
Yay! The King sized bed arrived on Thursday! We finally got to move to sleeping upstairs instead of in the living room! Our Queen sized bed wouldn't fit up the stairs. So we got a King (split box springs) with a hinged mattress. Yes, decided to upgrade the size with the two co-sleepers. We've all been sleeping so much better! Although D still managed to kick Dad last night.
Is that a banana on your shoe? Eeewww! This is what happens when you have a messy eater and the dogs don't like bananas.

The Burger Queen Learns to Count!!
:) You may have noticed that my son's hair is a tad on the long side. He's only 2 1/2 and has had at least three complete hair cuts so far! We had given him bangs only cuts a few times before his first actual hair cut. He did great for his first hair cut. Hair cut numbers two and three were quite challenging. He screamed his head off for both of them. So I want to take him someplace this time - but not someplace that has a lot of customers (especially not in a mall!)... I think he might do better for someone else. And if not, at least there will be plenty of extra hands to hold his head still ;) But yes, he needs a haircut really soon! People are starting to think he's a girl again. Never mind he's always dressed in very boyish clothes... One lady said that girls do wear camoflauge these days... But the worst was when we stopped at a Burger King a few weeks ago and yes, the burger flipper gave him a crown and said "What a lovely Burger Queen." !!! Of course baby B loves his hair (as you may be able to tell by one of my wordless wednesday pics from today). She is constantly grabbing it by the handful :) She really loves his hair.
But the exciting news is that D has been counting! It's so damned cute! OK, so he doesn't quite start with 1 yet and he goes from 10 to 12, but he clearly gets 7, 8, 9, and 10. Those are his favorites. Yesterday he would say them over and over. I would start at 1 and he would come in at 7. And he would say them in order every time! :) I'm so proud of the little booger (or should I say Burger Queen!).
